Bo.Sabi located at The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa

Bo.Sabi located at The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa is known for its tantalising Far East Asian cuisine. Farah Baig puts this delightful restaurant to the taste test this month and explores a whole new world of flavours.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from past experiences, The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa does nothing by half measures. So, this month, I was naturally excited to dine at Bo.Sabi which has grown to be one of my favourite restaurants on the island.

Settling into our seats at Bo.Sabi I was reminded why I always found this restaurant to be such a treat; the décor is just beautiful, the music enchanting and service impeccable. Our hostess soon served us refreshing beverages – a must on these sweltering summer nights. While all of these effectively quenched our thirst, we were partial to the Ginger Fizz mocktail which was just zingy.

The culinary team soon whipped up a veritable feast for the table with starters and some of our mains making their way to us. They say “You eat with your eyes first,” and that’s precisely how we felt with the beautiful plating. Ultimately, I broke one of the fundamental rules of dining and tucked into the tempting Korean-Style Spicy Beef. Its beef spare ribs were phenomenally tender and the blend of flavours just spectacular- sweet, pleasantly salty and beautifully tender. Coupled with the subtle flavours of Fried Rice, it was just perfect!

Next, we feasted on the selection of starters including Chicken Satay, Edamame and Gyoza. Each was perfectly spiced and whetted our appetite for the rest of the experience. The Chicken Satay had the most pleasant balance of flavours with the peanut sauce.

Nasi Goreng, a staple in Indonesia, followed. This really had everything a person could possibly want for lunch or dinner – delicious grilled chicken skewers, fried rice with a generous helping of shrimp, delightfully crisp prawn crackers, a serving of fresh salad and a fried egg – just pure comfort food.

Proving, once again, that they really know how to cook their meats, we were served the Taiwanese Roasted Lamb Shank. This fall-off-the-bone lamb had a medley of mouth-watering flavours with ginger and roasted anise coming together beautifully with the sweetness of honey and crisp lotus root. The Indonesian Prawn Curry, too, was fantastic with its rich creamy flavours, perfectly cooked prawns and soft potatoes. Finally, the stir-fried flat noodles and Spicy Tuna Rolls which had a zesty kick to it thanks to the Togaroshi chili powder.

While we were perfectly satiated and experienced everything one could expect from a memorable dining experience, the team had more in store for us. We were served three of their sensational desserts: Thai Mango Sticky Rice, Banana Fritters and Japanese Cheesecake.  Each effectively sweetened the experience with its rich textures, but the Banana Fritters were just unparalleled. These fritters had the perfect crunch and we enjoyed the difference in texture of the soft banana, crisp batter and creamy ice cream. The contrasting temperatures were sensational too.

A close second was the light and airy Japanese Cheesecake served with Red Plum and Passion Fruit Custard. Then again, who could go wrong ending a phenomenal night of dining with a classic dessert like Thai Mango Sticky Rice.

Planning on celebrating with sensational Far East Asian cuisine? Bo.Sabi does it best!
