Verdict: Intense and Jaw-dropping

What is it?
Black Myth: Wukong is a 2024 action role-playing game developed and published by Game Science. It’s inspired by the renowned Chinese novel Journey to the West and follows an anthropomorphic monkey based on the novel’s character Sun Wukong. Ten million units of the game were sold in just three days with it taking the gaming world by storm and giving the classic Elden Ring a run for its money.

Gameplay
Given that this is a role-playing game, the player controls the monkey protagonist, the Destined One, who uses a staff based on the Ruyi Jingu Bang. The game involves resource management and focus accumulation. Spells have cooldowns and consume mana, while transformations shapeshift the protagonist into different creatures or beings. Spirits provide a passive effect and can be used as transformations for a single attack. The game follows a linear progression with expansive areas, checkpoints, and various enemies. The difficulty remains constant throughout the playthrough, making it a challenging yet rewarding experience.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 takes the franchise to new heights with a gripping, Cold War-era storyline that explores espionage, covert operations and intense global conflict. Featuring a blend of classic and new multiplayer modes, the game introduces advanced AI, enhanced weapon customisation and a revamped Zombies experience. The campaign offers branching narratives with multiple endings, while the multiplayer delivers fast-paced, tactical gameplay across diverse, dynamic environments. It’s a must-play for any FPS fan, and with the whole new Omni-movement system being brought into the game. This game is set to revolutionise the gaming scene in terms of FPS shooters and will definitely kick the skill level up a notch.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
When the original THQ was dissolved, it looked like a sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine would never be possible. More than a decade later, Saber Interactive has rescued that series from obscurity and is ready to continue the fight. So far, the sequel looks like a brutal and satisfying action experience that combines an incredible sense of scale with gameplay that truly makes you feel like one of mankind’s greatest defenders. With PvE and PvP gameplay, an inspiring approach to post-launch content, and hordes of heretical enemies to mow through, Space Marine 2 could be one of the most cathartic games of the year.

Casting of Frank Stone
While spooky season only officially begins in October, Supermassive Games is getting a head start with The Casting of Frank Stone this month. The storytelling talents of the Dark Anthology developer meets the Dead by Daylight universe in this game, as a group of young friends discover the bloody legacy of, you guessed it, Frank Stone, the infamous serial killer. Like other Supermassive Games, every decision you make shapes the story and will ultimately define the fate of the cast in this high-stakes horror game.
