We all love our fair share of dessert, and what better way to satisfy a sweet tooth than with a luxurious scoop of ice cream? So, you can imagine our pure happiness when we caught steam of Bahrain’s very own artisanal ice cream brand, Florencia Ice Cream - awarded ‘The Best Luxury Ice Cream in the Middle East’ in the 2020 Luxury Lifestyle Awards.
We got the inside scoop from the lovely lady behind the luxurious icecream, Florencia Chaldu, who told us what drove her passion to create the delectable treats. “Growing up in Argentina, we lived in the same neighborhood as an Italian couple who served delicious, freshly- made ice cream that I greatly enjoyed. After I married my husband, we moved across the globe often and we desperately looked for that old-fashioned, flavourful gelato everywhere; but it was hard to find,” she explained.
Her quest for that familiar gelato, led Florencia to expand her knowledge in ice cream making so she took courses in Italy and Argentina. “Creativity, art and food have always been great passions of mine, so once we fully settled here in Bahrain, I finally decided to open up my own ice cream shop, inspired by that delicious childhood memory of mine,” she said.
“All the flavours are made by me. Making Ice cream is like art, so most of my flavor combinations are inspirations that I get and execute till I’m satisfied with the results,” she added.
All of Florencia’s ice cream is handmade the old-fashioned way, with every batch freshly made with natural ingredients, no artificial substances, no added flavors, and no preservatives. “All ingredients are of high quality, selectively picked from places around the world like Argentina, Madagascar, Holland, Italy, the Middle East,” she explained.
After years of hard work and dedication, Florencia beams at the thought of the brand’s recent accomplishment. “Getting recognition for all the hard work is always a great feeling! We at Florencia strive to serve our customers the best authentic gelateria, and to be awarded for that is a great accomplishment.”
