Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH Hypercar hits the track

Aston Martin’s Valkyrie AMR-LMH Hypercar has started its testing phase, marking the company’s return to top-tier endurance racing. This new Hypercar, developed in collaboration with The Heart of Racing, aims to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2025. The Valkyrie AMR-LMH, the first Hypercar derived from a road car, completed initial shakedown tests in the UK.

Drivers Darren Turner, Mario Farnbacher, and Harry Tincknell, who won the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans, participated in these tests. The car features a race-optimised carbon-fibre chassis and a modified Cosworth-built 6.5-litre V12 engine, revving to 11,000rpm and generating over 1000bhp. Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance Motorsport, Adam Carter, expressed satisfaction with the initial results, stating that the car is meeting its performance targets.

In addition to WEC and IMSA, Aston Martin’s entry into the Hypercar class ensures their presence across all endurance racing levels. By 2025, Aston Martin will be the only manufacturer competing in all sportscar and GT racing tiers, including Formula 1.
