On February 11, the Indian Embassy in Bahrain celebrated the inauguration of Madhya Pradesh State Tourism and One District One Product (ODOP) walls. Ambassador of India, Mr. Vinod K. Jacob, presided over the event held at the Consular Hall. These walls are designed to showcase the touristic attractions and unique products under the ODOP scheme from Madhya Pradesh.
This initiative places Madhya Pradesh as the eighth state to be featured by the Embassy under its focus state/union territory initiative, following states like Rajasthan, Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh, among others. The ODOP initiative aims to brand and promote at least one unique product from every district in the country, focusing on socio-economic growth and leveraging the local ecosystems for products that are identified as potential export hubs or have geographical indication tags.
In a significant move to boost tourism, the Embassy, in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government, is organising a familiarisation visit for international travel agents and tour operators based in Bahrain to explore Madhya Pradesh. A virtual conference with these stakeholders has already been conducted to enhance the visibility of the state’s tourist attractions.
During the inauguration, Mr. Jacob acknowledged the contributions of the Madhya Pradesh community in Bahrain, who have played a crucial role in sourcing the ODOP items. The event also featured a vibrant cultural performance, highlighting the rich cultural tapestry of Madhya Pradesh.
