Bahraini musician and filmmaker Whatsmahmood has taken a bold new step in his creative journey following the release of his third project, Furjaan Al Bahrain, on January 31. Moving beyond traditional music videos, he is now pairing each of his monthly songs with a short film, offering audiences a more immersive storytelling experience.
“I’m done creating superficial music videos, and now I’m focusing on giving the audience a little more value with the films that I create,” he shares.
For this latest project, Whatsmahmood released a short comedy film, which he wrote, directed, co-filmed, edited and starred in as a washed-up detective struggling to solve a case that has remained open for 13 years.
“The song was produced by one of Bahrain’s finest producers, Sean Aaron Fernandes, also known as Monsoonfortwo. The film took about three months to complete – it was stressful, I made a lot of mistakes that I learned from, but most importantly, it was a really fun experience alongside my kind and supportive friends, especially my right-hand man, Moayyed. It was our first big project together, and I couldn’t have done it without him.”
