As one of the most celebrated names in haute horology, Vacheron Constantin has consistently upheld its reputation for timeless elegance and impeccable craftsmanship. During Jewellery Arabia 2024, Bahrain This Month had the privilege of speaking with Christophe Ramel, the company’s Regional Managing Director for the Middle East, Turkey and the Indian Subcontinent. Mr. Ramel shared insights into the maison’s presence in the region, its innovative creations and the timeless allure of Vacheron Constantin watches.

Mr. Christophe, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Can you tell us about the brand's presence in this region?
Being in the Middle East, we have the unique opportunity to connect with a region that deeply appreciates craftsmanship and heritage. It’s always a pleasure to return to Bahrain for Jewellery Arabia, where we can engage with collectors and press.

How significant is Jewellery Arabia for Vacheron Constantin?
Jewellery Arabia is incredibly important to us as it allows us to connect with local collectors. We focus heavily on building client relationships and take pride in showcasing our latest novelties. Additionally, we host workshops to educate visitors about watchmaking and decorative crafts, further highlighting our commitment to excellence.

This year, the brand has introduced bold colour choices in your collection. What inspired this direction?
In this region, collectors have a strong appreciation for vibrant colours. This year, we introduced a striking green dial in our Overseas collection, paired with a pink gold case. It’s a deep, captivating green that resonates well with collectors here. The Overseas Dual Time, in particular, is both elegant and practical, catering to the dynamic lifestyle of frequent travellers.

Is the Overseas collection unisex?
Absolutely. The Overseas collection is designed for those who lead a versatile and active lifestyle. We’ve also introduced a stunning 37mm model with a diamond-set bezel, which has been very popular with our female clientele.

Speaking of women, could you share more about the pieces designed specifically for them?
Certainly. The Égérie collection is inspired by haute couture and has been a favourite among our female clients in the region. One standout piece is a fully diamond-paved model, featuring intricate detailing on the dial, case, and even the buckle. It’s presented on a satin strap, exemplifying the maison’s dedication to craftsmanship and elegance.

Where do you see Vacheron Constantin heading in the Middle East?
The Middle East is a growing market for high-end watchmaking. Collectors here value authenticity, which is at the core of Vacheron Constantin. As we approach our 270th anniversary, we remain true to our DNA, focusing on craftsmanship, technical excellence and elegance. We’re also excited to see more women engaging with fine watchmaking, which is a positive trend for the industry.

How does Vacheron Constantin stand out in such a competitive market?
Our maison’s continuous production since its inception nearly 270 years ago is a testament to our authenticity and heritage. We preserve and transmit watchmaking skills across generations, ensuring that our designs and techniques remain deeply rooted in our history.

Is there anything you’d like to share with our readers?
I’d like to invite everyone to visit our booth at Jewellery Arabia to discover our latest novelties and gain a deeper understanding of what Vacheron Constantin represents. It’s an experience we’re proud to share with the world.
